Whether intentionally sunk as artificial reefs or lost through history, wrecks are some of the most fascinating dive sites in the ocean. Ships, airplanes, and even vehicles become thriving marine habitats—offering a unique blend of exploration, history, and adventure.

The Wreck Diver Specialty course teaches you how to safely and responsibly explore these underwater time capsules, giving you the skills and confidence to uncover hidden details while protecting both yourself and the environment.

Academics:

  • Complete your PADI eLearning at your own pace (2–4 hours) before meeting your instructor

  • Learn about different types of wrecks, their history, and potential hazards

With Your Instructor:

  • 2–3 day course (dives completed over a minimum of two days)

  • Four open water dives exploring real wreck sites

  • Practice navigation, mapping, and specialized wreck diving techniques

What You'll Learn:

  • How to safely survey and explore a wreck

  • Mapping and understanding wreck layouts

  • Proper use of lines and reels for navigation and safety

  • Techniques to avoid common wreck diving hazards

  • Special finning techniques to prevent disturbing sediment

  • Responsible wreck diving practices to protect fragile structures and marine life

Requirements:

  • Minimum age requirement: 15 years old

  • Certified as a PADI Adventure Diver or equivalent

  • Good physical health (medical clearance may be required depending on history)

Transportation:

  • Each student is responsible for their own transportation to and from dive locations
    (Pick-ups available for an extra $20 per person)

Included in Cost:

  • Educational materials and instruction

  • Certification card processing

  • Private instructor

Not Included:

  • Transportation to and from dive locations (Pick-ups available for an extra $20 per person)
