If scuba diving feels like a peaceful stroll through the ocean, a Diver Propulsion Vehicle (DPV)—also known as an underwater scooter—is like exploring it on an electric bike.

DPVs allow you to cover more distance, conserve energy, and experience more of the underwater world in a single dive—all while having an incredible amount of fun. This course is all about efficiency, control, and adventure.

Academics:

  • Complete your PADI eLearning at your own pace (2–4 hours) before meeting your instructor

  • Learn about different types of DPVs, care and maintenance, and dive planning with a scooter

With Your Instructor:

  • 1–2 day course

  • Two open water dives practicing DPV skills and maneuvers

  • Hands-on experience riding, controlling, and navigating with a DPV

What You'll Learn:

  • How to properly handle and operate a DPV

  • Managing your depth and buoyancy while using a scooter

  • Efficient movement and navigation techniques

  • Tandem riding and diving with a buddy

  • How to avoid common problems such as rapid ascents/descents, entanglement, losing your buddy, or battery depletion

  • Proper care, maintenance, and storage of DPVs

Requirements:

  • Minimum age requirement: 12 years old

  • Certified as a PADI (Junior) Open Water Diver or equivalent

  • Good physical health (medical clearance may be required depending on history)

Transportation:

  • Each student is responsible for their own transportation to and from dive locations
    (Pick-ups available for an extra $20 per person)

Included in Cost:

  • Educational materials and instruction

  • Certification card processing

  • Private instructor

  • DPV use during training dives

Not Included:

  • Transportation to and from dive locations (Pick-ups available for an extra $20 per person)

  • Food and drinks

  • Dive gear rental (if needed)
