The Coral Reef Conservation Specialty is designed for anyone who wants to better understand and protect one of the ocean’s most valuable ecosystems. This non-diving course explores the intricate relationships that make coral reefs thrive—and the challenges they face in today’s changing world.
You’ll gain the knowledge and awareness needed to become a more responsible ocean advocate, while learning how your actions can directly contribute to reef conservation.

Complete your e-learning and course materials at your own pace before meeting your instructor
One classroom session
What You'll Learn:
How coral reefs function and the complex nature of life on a reef
Why coral reefs are so important to marine ecosystems and coastal communities
Why many coral reefs are in serious trouble today
The environmental threats impacting reefs, including climate change and human activity
What you can do to help prevent further reef decline
How the PADI AWARE Foundation brings divers and ocean lovers together to protect the underwater world
Requirements:
Minimum age requirement: No minimum age
No prior certification required (open to divers and non-divers)
Clear medical history or physician’s approval if necessary
Transportation:
Each student is responsible for their own transportation to and from the classroom
(Pick-ups available for an extra $20 per person)

Educational materials and instruction
Certification card processing
Private instructor
Not Included:
Transportation to and from training locations (Pick-ups available for an extra $20 per person)

Optional guided dives or conservation activities
